Welcome, Welcome!
I am Gillman (or just Gill, if you prefer!), your friendly webmaster from the devonian. You can use he/she for me. Please avoid they/them. I am in my 20's and located in the southeastern USA.
My awakening was very early, perhaps in 2008 if I had to guess. I discovered the community in 2016 and understood its relevancy to me, but did not yet join. In 2020, I began lurking more in the Tumblr community. By the end of 2021 I identified with multiple terms. In 2023, I joined the community proper. I have come to call this side of the internet home, and I hope to continue to lurk around for many years to come.
My identity is very fluid. Many might consider me a polykin, but the ways in which my identity sprawls and connects make it difficult for me to claim that I am multiple things. Instead, see me as one whole ideal with many, many facets and perspectives. I am a complex individual that can not fully be captured by one thing. As I age and grow and change, my 'types may come and go. I am a gillman today, but in 5 years time I may be something else completely.
I have a bachelor's degree in English and anthropology. I am currently a graduate student getting my masters in English, specificially for technical writing. I have a deep love for science and the humanities, and my goal is to blend the two and work with medical research and other scientific publications. Archives and special collections, library sciences, theory, and philosophy are some of my other passions.
In real life, I can often be found outdoors. I adore hiking, camping, kayaking, and going on "bug walks" (walks where I try to identify as many bugs as possible). I am a local at the public library and frequent art galleries and museumes of all types. Hobby-wise, I enjoy crochet, knitting, oil painting, digital art, writing, and really any other thing I can get my fishy hands on.
