Tumblr Archive
Welcome to my Tumblr Archive! This is an ongoing project to collect and archive the nonhuman tumblr community. This is a google drive full of exported blogs. At the moment, the archive has only a few blogs, but I hope to see it grow! Because I am not an expert in any of this, how I tell you to navigate this may not be the most effective. But if you're as clueless as me, it should be good enough. What's the point of this?
The internet is not forever, and Tumblr's day will come, regardless of if we want it or not. Tumblr has been home to our community for over a decade, I fear that when we lose this platform, we will lose a decent chunk of writing and information. This is an attempt to preserve the community for future use.Best way to view posts
Opening these files in the Google Drive will just be raw HTML. If you'd like to see them without the HTML, download the folder and open up the HTML files in your browser. If you have something else to open them up in, then that should also be fine. The Tumblr Archive

Who can add their blog?
Anyone who posts regularly about their nonhuman or alterhuman experiences or who reblogs others experiences. You can be CLCZ, a p-shifter, otherhearted, otherhuman, a 'linker... what have you. So long as you are alterhuman or adjacent and post about it.How do I add my blog?
Exporting your tumblr can only be done on desktop.Blog settings -> scroll all the way down. The "export blog" button should be below your blocked blogs. Click that
Exporting your blog may take a while. Leave it be and go do something else. When it is done, you will have the option to download the .zip file. Download it.
Unzip or extract the file. There will be three folders: media, conversations, and posts. This archive is only for posts. I do not need your messages or media.
please remember to include the file called "post_index.html". It is important and makes things 100x easier to navigate
Email the posts folder and the blogs URL to gonefishmode@proton.me
I will upload it to the drive and email you back when it's completed.
What gets saved this way?
All posts, either private or public. If there are certain posts you don't want archived, then I reccomend finding them and deleting them before you email me.Your private conversations will not be saved.
How do I remove posts that I don't want to be saved?
Identify the post ID. This is the long string of numbers that are at the end of the post URL.For example:
https://www.tumblr.com/gone-fish-mode/748591796996702208/%F0%93%86%8F-introduction
748591796996702208 is the post ID.
The HTML file in your exported folder is named after the post ID. You can use the search function to find this file and delete it.
What if I change my mind?
Reach out to me with your tumblr URL(s) and I will delete it, no questions asked. How often do I have to redo this?
As often as you want, or not at all! I will do this to my own blog once or twice a year. While I think it'd be great to have a constantly updating stream of blogs, that's not realistic and I won't require it of anyone. What are the flaws with this system?
It's hard to navigate. Very hard. But it's an easy way to back up whole accounts.Posts with "read more" cuts can cause issues and don't save properly. Please please please avoid using the "read more" function, it makes it hard for posts to be archived regardless of the method.
If enough people send me their blogs, then I will eventually run out of room. What comes after that? Unsure. Maybe another gmail account. Maybe, by that time, I'll have found another way to host this. But for now, this is what we're working with.
